Calculation of the visits to preset objects on the map

One of the secondary options of the high-quality GPS monitoring systems is the calculation of visits, performed by the vehicles, in static objects, geo-zones, geo-locations and the generating of comprehensive reports on the matter.

GPS Logistic has this functionality integrated. All that is needed is the customer to define the objects first. This can be done in the following ways:

1. For trade-oriented companies – the objects are most often defined as circles on the map. These circles surround the addresses of their customers, in order to enable the GPS system to track the activities of the sales agents. In that case, the performed tasks are measured in visits to customer offices. The objects are usually defined by automatic import of Excel file, containing name, address or GPS coordinates of each customer.

2. For companies, operating in the mining industry – the objects can be “drawn” directly on the map. GPS Logistic has a visual redactor, designed specifically for the purpose of working with objects. The main goal of this is to carefully outline the site, which the machines visit, in order the system to calculate correctly each course, made from one object (e.g. mine) to another (e.g. silo).

3. There is also a third type of objects – “mobile objects”. A specific, GPS-controlled, vehicle can be defined as a mobile object, in order the system to calculate how many times another vehicle has visited the object or the opposite. An example for such mobile object can be a fuel tank truck, that visits other vehicles on the road for fuel refilling.

GPS Logistic includes a whole lot of different reports regarding objects. Some of them are: 1. Report for the visits of a specific vehicle at all static objects; 2. Report for the visits at a concrete static object by all vehicles; 3. Report, serving as a schedule, that shows whether a vehicle has visited all objects, that he had to visit during the day. This report also shows which of the objects, that the vehicle had to visit, were missed by it.

There are also the following additional features to working with objects: Showing the objects on the map simultaneously with the vehicles, in order the operator to be able to take fast decisions which vehicle to send to an urgent address. Replacing the addresses in the waybill with the names of the visited objects in order the agent to report what arrangements were made with the respective customers. Drag and Drop of an address (defined as an object) to the navigation unit, installed at the car – for vehicles that have the right GPS equipment. Drag and Drop of an address (defined as an object) to the route optimization function of GPS Logistic, in order to find the best trace for visiting a series of addresses.

Working with the objects in GPS Logistics has many applications, including ones that no one has thought of. We, the specialists from Advanced GPS Technology, are always ready for giving advice or getting new ideas from the practice of our customers.
